Thank you to everyone who helped out and supported our fund raising efforts! The Philippines team raised $1300 at the pasta dinner and another $1,000 at our yard sale on Saturday. I want to especially thank Julie Pitts for letting us use her yard for our yard sale, Daniel Adrian for the awesome volunteer work, the C3y youth for participating in the dinner, George and Leanne Ferch for blood sugar support, Don Sutton for showing up and selling golf balls, Isabel Utsler, Jessica Bonilla, and everyone else you know who you are!

“First Aid for the Wounded Soul”

May 14th-16th

DSCN0063

This was one of the most anticipated retreats of the year! We spent Saturday hiking, bouldering, and exploring God’s creation. At night we worshiped and slept under the stars on the dry lake bed. Sunday, we woke up to a beautiful morning and started the day with studying God’s healing word. Later in the day took some offroad trails and  learned how to rappel and rock climb.

If you missed this retreat and would like to study “First aid for the wounded soul” Click the read more button to read our journals.

DSCN2705 Thanks so much for the hard work and devotion you gave during 3 Days and 3 Nights in Orange, CA. I hope it was a growing experience for all that attended. I received this e-mail from Ken Mortensen at Forest Home and wanted to share it with you:

I want to thank you, your staff and all the youth who spent the day at Forest Home last week.  Each time I go into the former bookstore soon to be game room I am thankful for the many hands that accomplished so much.

I was in yesterday afternoon removing the last two sections of slat board on the north wall and noticed that all that you had removed was sorted and stacked in an orderly manner.  You have blessed me and Forest Home, thank you.

There are so many other things Jesus did. If they were all written down, each of them, one by one, I can’t imagine a world big enough to hold such a library of books.”
(John 21:25 MESSAGE)

When I hear the term “great men of history” many names and heroes come to mind.  Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, General Patton, Isaac Newton, Beethoven, Ghengis Khan, Wright Brothers, Aristotle, Moses, Martin Luther, George Washington, Columbus, etc. The list goes on and on of people who have persevered under hardships, laid the foundations of society, and have sacrificed their lives for others.  They are soldiers who didn’t show their fear, great minds who shared their intellect and ideas, Politicians who were public servants rather than servants of self.  They were conquerers who merged societies, artists who shared the beauty of their creations, and pioneers that were willing to step past the boundaries.  All of these men have contributed and impacted our present lives more than we can fathom.  There is one however who is greater still.  The one who does not fit among the names of men, Jesus the Christ.  Without Him the past would not exist.  With Him we have a future.  Not only is He the creator of all things but He is also “the lover of my soul”.  He came to set the captives free, to heal the sick, to restore the alienated, and to give us life abundantly. On Friday, February 20th the youth ministry left from the church parking lot around 4:30 p.m. for Core Camp 2009.  Core Camp is a weekend retreat that our High School program started a couple years ago.  The goal is to take a small group of teens for a weekend and help them learn how to study the Bible.  It is a very intense program with very little free time (about 3 hours a day).  The trip is open to all however we keep the spots limited and it is not the sort of trip that draws everyone.

What happens when you get a bunch of teenagers hopped up on sugar and coffee and then tell them to film a music video at 2:00 in the morning?  Well you can see for yourself right here!  A couple of the videos do not have sound due to copyright laws.
