On Friday, February 20th the youth ministry left from the church parking lot around 4:30 p.m. for Core Camp 2009.  Core Camp is a weekend retreat that our High School program started a couple years ago.  The goal is to take a small group of teens for a weekend and help them learn how to study the Bible.  It is a very intense program with very little free time (about 3 hours a day).  The trip is open to all however we keep the spots limited and it is not the sort of trip that draws everyone.
This years theme was about the love of God.  How God loves us? Why God loves us? Can we make him love us more?  These were the questions we spent time exploring.  Friday they started with a journal study on acceptance.  Learning about how God accepts us unconditionally and that we do not have to win his favor!  Each of the journal studies takes the youth about an hour to complete.  That night during worship we had a time of open prayer and a young man gave his life to Christ!
The over the course of Saturday and Sunday the youth would study the stories of Hosea, Mephibosheth, Jacob, The Prodigal Son, and of course the crucifixion of Christ.  At the end of of each journal entry the youth would write a Psalm of praise.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.  The pictures are taken mostly during free time.
